On April 21, 2007 she married her bodyguard of three years, Wayne Newton, in Mexico. The singer after her recovery said that, she now feels more womanly than she did feel before her battle with her deadly disease. According to her she has smashed the damaging stigma attached to the disease.

The Queen of Pop Soul said, “Strange though it is, I feel more feminine now than I ever did.” The 40-years-old American singer also said, “I absolutely feel sexy and radiant, and I wouldn’t have thought that would be the situation after having such a shameful disease as cancer has become.
